the sustainable development
In the twenty-first century, new terms began to appear in the open, terms that coincide with what is happening in terms of developments and changes in the world.
As every period has its terminology, so our time also "has some terminology that distinguishes it from other times and stages. Among these terms is the term sustainable development, but before dealing with this term, we must deal with the term development in general.
Defining development in general is the ability to increase resources in all their forms, whether economic, social, human and natural resources And to support them with the aim of meeting the basic needs of most the population through achieving greater production results
Development is not confined to the societal level, but also applies "to the personal level of each individual, Where the individual can develop himself by himself and the self-development of his knowledge, culture and productive abilities in proportion to the requirements of civil life
Considering that development in its comprehensive sense includes many areas and concepts, we will suffice to highlight what we would like to present in particular, which is sustainable development By simply mentioning this word, societies stand a watershed moment during which they can study and understand this term and what it can present and its purpose.
The term sustainable development appeared with the beginning of thinking about what is to come, and what will happen to the natural resources that people use and benefit from now in his life, and the extent of his thinking about the coming generations after him.
It is also an idea that many have stood by in response to the idea that nature rehabilitates itself by itself and the stores of its wealth do not diminish and do not stop flowing but remain vibrant forever.
The World Commission for Environment and Development has defined a definition of sustainable development as development that meets their special needs, and this definition has made clear that there are many pillars that must be achieved, such as:Satisfying basic human needs, achieving social justice, preserving the integrity and protection of the environment, and achieving societal integration.
This definition clarified the overall dimension and framework of several important areas that would achieve social, economic and ecological progress.
Sustainable development has many goals set by international organizations such as the United Nations and non-governmental organizations, the most important of which are
-
Getting rid of poverty in the world
-
Promote good health and well-being
-
Saving education for all
-
Saving clean water and sanitation
-
Complete elimination of hunger
-
Enabling access to energy at reasonable costs and without harming the environment
-
Empowering gender equality
-
Decent work and economic growth
-
Industry, innovation and infrastructure
-
Reducing inequalities
-
Sustainable cities and communities
-
Responsible consumption and production
-
Climate action
-
Underwater life
-
Peace, justice and strong institutions
-
Partnerships to achieve goals
Targets have been set to achieve them with an average deadline set from 2015 to 2030 as a minimum for achieving these goals by the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations.
Here, and after highlighting these goals, it is necessary to move to the ground of reality and the extent of achieving or starting the way to achieve these goals and the methods used to reach the desired result during the specified period
What we find on the ground is a completely different matter from what we read and is theoretically agreed upon. For example, if we dealt with some goals accurately and shed light on them, then we notice
With regard to the environment, its protection and the preservation of natural resources, the environment is declining more than at any other time, as the disasters that befell the environment in this era put it in a state of recovery in many regions. Either what happened to it as a result of massive fires or the toxins that were thrown at it by huge companies whose only goal is financial profit, or it may be an effective action at other times.
For example, what Turkish fascist regime committed and continues to commit in Afrin, where instead of protecting the environment, he fought it with a fierce fight and uprooted trees from the heart of its environment without any feeling of guilt and in the eyes of the international arena and all concerned with the environment.
Here we will not neglect to mention some attempts that seek compensation through replacing energy resources or using clean environmentally friendly energy or trying to compensate for part of what the environment loses from green space. The intensification of planting trees, although they are attempts, can only be said as shy attempts, and they cannot compensate for the percentage of destruction that befalls them.
As the studies give the percentage of vegetables in each country, it should be on average (12.5), but in reality the percentage of green space does not exceed (1.5), meaning that we need a percentage (11.5) as an average to re-improve the environment and provide a healthy environment in Region
If we move to another goal of the sustainable development goals, which is the elimination of poverty worldwide, then we find it a goal that everyone aspires to, but If we look at what is happening, we will find that, in the last several years, many individuals have fallen far below the poverty line, and forced migrations have increased, and economic crises, conflicts and wars have turned the world and the Middle East region in particular into a focus of permanent conflict and a mill to crush the features of humanity in it little by little.
Instead of working to improve the standard of living to eradicate poverty, wars with poor fuel are fabricated in the first place, as the results of these wars and conflicts are directly tragically attributable to the poor classes, which have become vast and the gap between them and the rich class that owns everything from "decision-making to the Production means" has increased.
For example, in Syria, whose infrastructure was built, it has become in decline, and the basic class of its people the end of the day is the most basic requirement of living in terms of food and shelter, which those who own it have become considered in such luxurious conditions. Not to mention similar numbers in every country that exposes its inhabitants to the woes due to the crises and the ongoing conflict between the parties over the interests of Libya, Yemen and Iraq, not to mention the African countries that mainly suffer from the most severe types of poverty in most of them and are even considered the largest incubators for them with everything that poverty leaves From diseases and calamities
The percentage of the population who have been displaced from their homes and lost them due to wars and forced displacement has become about (60%), as these numbers were added to what existed "previously" during the setting of these goals. This leads to the result being a backward retreat instead of taking steps forward. In achieving a decent standard of living, we must ask
Where are we from starting to achieve the development goals and what is the time limit that may be sufficient to reduce the poverty and displacement of the world's population ??
What are the ways to limit these contrived reasons by the countries themselves in the way of correct, sustainable development ??
Indeed, where are we from achieving sustainable development at a time when we generally suffer from the most severe types of poverty and deprivation ??
